Martin's 2016 in film

I saw a lot of good films in the cinema this year, The Force Awakens, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, Shaun of the Dead (again), Scott Pilgrim, The Iron Giant.... What do you mean none of those films came out this year? I saw them in a cinema this year! OK, fine. In my opinion 2016 was a poor year in new films. I saw 53 showings of films this year (not including an all night screening of Edgar Wright films) which is significantly down from last year's 87. Anyway, on to the awards!

Best film: Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them

Worst film: Hail Caesar!

Expected to be bad but was surprisingly good: Angry Birds

Best Superhero film: Deadpool

Best Animated: Zootropolis

Best Comedy: Dirty Grandpa (Alex's pick: Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates)

Hounarable mention: Star Trek Beyond
